Robert Jefress and his opinions are all over the map. Citing a quote from -one- of the founding fathers, John Jay, who stated,"We have a duty and a privelage as Christians to select and prefer Christians as our leaders." Evangelicals may pick competent Christians over a competent non-christian."
This was my first mysterious question. Well, mysterious to myself. And of course anyone else wanting to understand this religious mystery.
1. Okay, look, as a Jew, I understand how a Christian would want a christian, a Jew, a Jew, etc.,etc.
2. Are Evangelicals THE pickers? Are they the top, sort to speak, of the christian feeding chain? The reason I ask this is because of the simple fact, evangelicals may pick competent Christians over competent non-christians, as far as political candidates. According to John Jay, Jeffers' founder of house, says that as christians they have a duty and privelage as Christians to select and prefer Christians as our Leaders..Now, is this for President supreme or, other candidates? What about Supreme Court Candidates picked by the house? Must they also be a christian? Because, as John Jay is quoted, he does not give any black or white. He says ,"As christians to prefer christians as our leaders.
Robert Jeffers is the one who Quotes, himself? or.......? In the fact that an evangelical may pick competent christians over competent non-christians. Then why the quote of John Jay at all?... If one is competant in his studies and would make the better candidate , be he, or she, a non- christian, doesnt that make this entire argument of John Jay's argument entirely moot?
There is just one small fact that i thought would be pertinant to this argument. If the entire government where competent Christians, most of the constitution would be changed, especially the ammendments. Mr. Jeffress replyed, when asked whether his own religious preferences over his political preferences defied constitutional principles, he STATED that this was absurd, as he is not a government entity, but an individual free to apply "any litmus test," he desires. I was just wondering if, and God forbid, when this country's government became competent or Evangelical Christian.... Then Mr. Jeffers constitutional preferences would be defied by his new religious ones, and wouldnt he then be more than a government entity, and idividual entity? Being one of the country's christians, a preferred religion, as the wall between state and church would be dead and buried, then EXACTLY the litmus test he has always desired will be held against every nominee for every public seat, as well as Supreme Court Justice seats.
